Australia is a country/continent surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean on all sides. As such, all the important cultural cities in the country are coastal in nature. Some of the major cities/coasts in Australia are Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, amongst others. These cities offer the best of both worlds — a thriving cultural metropolis on one hand, and a beach destination getaway on the other. Australia is most famous for the Sydney Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef, and no travel to Australia can be complete without seeing them. In this list, we’ve reviewed the top 15 beach hotels in Australia.

Lizard Island Resort

Lizard Island Resort is located is quite a remote island resort. It’s located 155 miles from the Cairns Airport, and then you have to hop into a one-hour flight, followed by a 5-minute golf buggy ride, and you finally reach this stunning island resort looking out at Anchor Bay and Sunset Beach. The resort is surrounded on all sides by a national park. The resort is set on a vast swatch of private beach land flanked by palm trees. The general color palette of the resort is neutral and pleasing with creams, beige, and light baby blues predominating. The rooms and suites are designed in a Pavilion style, and as such they’re quite spacious and allow plenty of natural light to flood in. Every aspect of the resort is designed in the likeness of the Great Barrier Reef. If you’re looking for a set of activities for the day, you can go down to the beach club wherein you can borrow paddle boards, catamarans, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, motorised dinghies, or any number of other water sports great. The resort also comes with its own tennis court, swimming pool, and a gym. You can also go diving or game fishing, at a surcharge. If you enjoy game fishing, you’ll be interested to know that black marlin season stretches on from September to December. You can enjoy your meals at the Salt Water Restaurant, which is all open-air and looks out at Anchor Bay, and is popular for its menu of seafood, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisines.

Beach Club

Beach Club is a luxury resort in Hamilton Island, which is one of the most popular tropical islands in the archipelago of the Whitsunday Islands. The resort itself is full of stunning features and amenities such such as an 18-hole golf course, a private yacht club, and a marina. The hotel itself is located on the clearest and most stunning stretch of beach on the Island — Catseye Beach. In order to go to the beach you have to walk past vast swatches of lush green gardens and an infinity pool. Guests can also avail of the 24 hours chauffeur service to be driven round to the marina, salons, convenience stores, or even the airport, all of which are within close proximity to the hotel. As such, if your idea of a perfect vacation is not having to move around a lot, then this is just the place for you. There are 57 rooms available in the hotel and they’ve all been designed in a cool color palette or sober white, indigo, and grey. The rooms also come with their own balconies equipped with a day bed from which you can look out at the beach and the crystal seas beyond. The bathroom is luxurious with patchwork marble flooring, an egg-shaped bath, and a separate rain shower. The hotel restaurant offers brilliant Australian cuisine, and the hotel can also make reservations at any restaurant across the island for you. If you’d like to enjoy some pan-Asian cuisine you should head on over to Coca Chu.

On The Beach Noosa

On The Beach is quite an aptly titled hotel as as it literally sits on the Noosa Beach. As such. it’s located in one of the most famous beaches of Australia. The hotel itself isn’t very large, and only has three floors. The hotel also features a public spa, swimming pool, and a swimming pool. However these are hardly ever used because all the individual rooms also come equipped with their own spa facilities. The penthouse suite is truly luxurious, however a small word of advise would be to only go there if you’re going solo, or as a couple. The shower cabinet is made of all-glass and it’s located in the middle of the room, between the bedroom and the kitchenette. This can be a truly lovely setting for couples, but it’s not ideal if you’re going as a family or a group of friends. The room also comes with a spiral staircase that can take you to rooftop paradise, which is a spa located on the rooftop from which you can look out at the sea. The rest of the rooms also feature their own balconies with loungers. The beach can be accessed via the hotel’s back door, and it’s literally just 10 meters away from the hotel. Hastings Street runs past the hotel and as such you’re also ideally located to wander around and explore the neighboring shops, restaurants, and cafes. If you enjoy shopping in boutiques and then coming back into your private heaven, then this is most certainly the beach hotel for you.

Netanya Noosa Resort

Netanya Noosa Resort is located along the popular Hastings Street. As such, it’s ideally situated to provide access to all the neighboring boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. If you enjoy shopping just as much as you enjoy soaking up the sun on a beach, this is the right beach hotel for you. The resort also comes with a pool area which is surrounded by cabanas and several deck chairs. The poolside bar is always open and functioning and as such you can enjoy some cocktails while lounging around the pool. You can also dip into the heated jacuzzi next to the pool. The rooms are all spacious and come with their own separate lounge space and private balcony. A personal recommendation would be to check into a River Suite so as to enjoy a view of the Noosa River. The bathroom also comes with a spa bath and a separate shower. One of the biggest attractions of this resort is its Noosa Beach House Restaurant which features the popular television chef Peter Kuruvita. The menu in the resort is ever-changing according to the seasons. If you’re looking to explore the surrounding areas, you should start with the Eumundi markets which are only open on Saturday and are a 20 minute drive away. You can also embark on a 4km hiking trail along the Noosa National Park and till the Alexandria Bay. While on the hiking trail, you’ll also pass through some stunning viewing points such as the Boiling Pot lookout, the Dolphin Point and Hell's Gates.

Peppers Broadbeach

Peppers Broadbeach, on Gold coast, is perhaps the best beach hotel in all of Australia when it comes to location and amenities. This resort is designed in such a self-contained and self-sustaining manner that you can spend weeks at a stretch in this paradise without ever needing to step beyond its gates. This hotel offers apartment-type accommodations, and as such it’s ideal for people who are there on long vacations. The hotel rises 48 floors high, and as such it’s definitely not meant for those who can’t stand heights. The sub penthouse suite is one of the best rooms in the hotel. All of the rooms in the hotel offer wide sweeping views of the sea and the beach beyond. The 3 bedroom apartments in the hotel offer a space of 340 square meters in which to luxuriate, and they come with a private balcony and a kitchen. In fact, even the bathroom features wide full-length windows so you have a view while soaking in the large tub. If you put down a $300 security bond, you will also be given an iPad with several preloaded apps that tell you what to do in the area, allows you to make reservations to any restaurant, and offers valuable information on the hotel. The hotel also features a private cinema room, a gym, a lap pool, and a room for games.

Flinders Hotel

Flinders Hotel is located a short 6 minute walk from the beach, and it’s designed in a manner reminiscent of the surrounding coastal settings. This hotel is quite well situated considering prime attractions such as the Flinders Golf Club and Cape Schanck are a 2 and 15 minutes drive away from the hotel. The latter of these attractions is ideal for enjoying stunning sunset views over the beaches from Gunnamatta to Portsea. You’re even within close proximity of the famous Peninsula Hot Springs. In addition to the location, the hotel has all necessary luxury amenities such as a pool, gym, spa, etc, and they have a great continental restaurant as well.

Pullman Bunker Bay Resort is located on the banks of the Margaret River, and as such it’s just a short 2 minute walk from the beach. The hotel is situated in such a manner that the rooms all enjoy a sweeping view of the Bunker Bay. The resort also features an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a restaurant. The resort features some spacious villas, all of them with access to the private beach. Another attraction of the resort is the Other Side of the Moon Restaurant, which is known for it Australian cuisine served with a Mediterranean twist.

The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort is located on the most sought-after location in Australia — the Gold Coast. Verandahs Boutique Apartments is located in such a way that you can easily access the Great Barrier Reef from it, and it’s just 3 minutes from Four Mile Beach. You can also take a short stroll over to the neighboring Port Douglas Park, and as such these apartments are situated in such a way that you have access to some important attractions. The accommodations in this beach hotel are fully equipped with furniture, a TV set, a fully-functioning and stocked kitchenette, and private balconies with a stunning sea view. The hotel also features an outdoor pool fringed by palm trees and sun loungers where guests may relax and soak up the sun. Prime attractions in close proximity are the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal and the Cairns Cruise Ship Terminal, both within a 5 minute walk from the beach hotel.

Oscar On Main Beach Resort is located in the ideal juxtaposition between the Gold Coast Beaches, Surfers Paradise, Sea World, and Marina Mirage. All of these locations fringe the resort on a 5 minute walking distance. The resort itself comes with all necessary luxury amenities such as an outdoors and an indoors pool, a tennis court, spa, sauna, etc. The apartments are all large and spacious with a lounge area, kitchenette, and a private balcony with a view of the coast. However, to enjoy the view you’ll have to get an apartment in the higher floors. The higher the better.

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa is located smack right in the center of Cable Beach. The resort is self-sustaining and it features a variety of 4 different restaurants, a mini-golf course for entertainment, and a day spa for relaxation. If you’d like time away from the kids you can hang at the adults-only Ocean Pool. The hotel also has amenities for kids such as the children’s pool and the on-site waterpark. As such, this resort is ideal for adults and kids alike, and it’s very family friendly.
